The TCCM runs the electronic 4WD/AWD transfer case. It reads your 2H/4H/4L selector — a switch or dial — and commands the shift motor and clutch to engage the right range. On electronic-shift 4WD systems, it's what makes the mode change actually happen.
What are the symptoms of a failing TCCM?
