Common questions

What features can be integrated into a factory rearview mirror?

Factory rearview mirrors range from simple manual mirrors to complex assemblies with multiple integrated features. Common integrations:

  • Auto-dimming. Photodiode sensors detect headlight glare from behind and electrochromically darken the mirror. Standard on many mid-trim and higher vehicles from the 2000s onward.
  • Compass. Digital compass with calibration for vehicle location.
  • Garage door opener (HomeLink or similar). Programmable buttons to control garage doors, gates, or home systems.
  • Telematics integration. OnStar, BlueLink, or similar services with microphone and emergency call buttons.
  • Backup camera display. Some mirrors include a small screen for the backup camera image.

A mirror from a base trim won't include the features of a higher trim. Match by part number or send your VIN to confirm the right unit for your vehicle.

Will the mirror match my vehicle's features and color?

Mirrors are coded to specific feature sets and trim packages. A mirror with auto-dim and compass won't replace a basic mirror without those features (or vice versa) — the wiring and mounting may differ, and your vehicle won't have the circuits to support added features even if the mirror physically fits.

Color and finish (mirror frame, mounting bracket) also vary by interior package. Compare listing photos and feature descriptions to your existing mirror before buying.

If you want confirmation that the listed unit matches your vehicle's features and trim, send your VIN.

What's the condition of used rearview mirrors?

Used rearview mirrors ship in the condition shown in the listing photos. Every unit is sourced from a documented vehicle and inspected for cosmetic and functional condition.

What gets pulled at intake:

  • Cracked or damaged mirror glass
  • Auto-dim units that don't darken on bench testing
  • Compass or display modules with non-functional electronics
  • Damaged mounting hardware

What you might see in listing photos:

  • Light surface wear on housing
  • Minor scuffing on plastic trim

If you don't see your vehicle, send your VIN. Hubes can tell you whether something fitting your build is coming through the bay.
