Common questions

What shifter parts are these?

OEM shifter assemblies, shift cables, knobs, bezels, and related linkage for both automatic and manual transmissions — the factory parts that let you select and move between gears, with the correct feel, illumination, and console fit.

What are the symptoms of a worn or broken shifter?

A shifter that's stuck or feels loose, won't come out of park, has lost its illumination, feels sloppy in the detents, or has a cracked knob or bezel. On some vehicles a failing shift-interlock keeps you from shifting out of park without a workaround.

How do I get the right shifter part for my vehicle?

Match by year, make, and model plus the transmission and console type — shifter assemblies and bezels vary by trim and console style. Send us your VIN if you're not sure. Most mechanical shifter parts are plug-and-play; some electronic gear selectors may need a calibration.

Why buy OEM shifter parts?

OEM parts give you the exact fit and feel, the correct console integration, and working illumination — aftermarket shifters rarely match. Every part we sell is inspected before listing.

How do I know if I need a complete shifter assembly or just a knob?

Depends on what's wrong:

  • Knob is cracked, faded, or worn but the shifter feels right. Knob-only replacement. The shift lever assembly stays.
  • Shifter feels loose, sloppy, or won't hold gear positions. That's the lever assembly itself — bushings, detents, or internal linkage have worn. A new knob won't fix it.
  • Shifter physically won't move out of park, or won't engage gear positions correctly. Could be the shifter, could be the cable, could be the brake-shift interlock. Diagnose before buying parts.
  • Shift indicator (P-R-N-D-L) is misaligned with where the lever actually is. Usually a cable adjustment, not a shifter replacement. Check that first.

Knobs and complete assemblies are listed separately in our shop. The listing description specifies what's included.

Will the shift knob fit my specific transmission and trim?

Shift knobs vary by transmission type (manual vs automatic), trim level, and console design. An automatic shift knob from a base trim won't necessarily fit a higher trim with sport-shift mode or paddle integration; a manual transmission knob has different threading than aftermarket universal knobs.

Two checks:

  1. Match the part number. OEM shift knobs are typically documented in the parts catalog by trim and transmission.
  2. Match the threading and mounting. Manual transmission knobs use specific thread pitches; automatic knobs use specific clip or button-release mechanisms.

If the listing doesn't specify your exact configuration, send your VIN and Hubes will confirm before you buy.

What's the condition of used shift levers?

Used shift levers and knobs ship in the condition shown in the listing photos. Every unit is sourced from a documented vehicle, inspected at intake for mechanical and cosmetic condition, and tested for proper function on assemblies that include moving parts.

What gets pulled at intake:

  • Cracked or broken knobs
  • Worn or sloppy lever action on complete assemblies
  • Damaged shift cable mounts
  • Missing or broken brake-shift interlock components

What you might see in listing photos:

  • Surface wear on knob finish from normal use
  • Light wear on lever boot or trim collar

See Parts, condition & testing for the Grade A — Tested standard.

What years and makes do you carry shift levers and knobs for?

Coverage varies as inventory turns. Hubes Hub stocks shift levers and knobs across most domestic and major import platforms. The live listing on the Shift Levers and Knobs collection shows what's in stock right now.

If you don't see your vehicle, send your VIN and what you're trying to replace. Hubes can tell you whether something fitting your build is coming through the bay.
