Also fits 1998–2001 Ford Explorer and Mercury Mountaineer; 1999–2004 Ford F-250/350/450/550 Super Duty; 2000–2003 Ford Excursion; and 2001 Ford Explorer Sport and Explorer Sport Trac. Part number YW1T15607AA.

From the shop

This transceiver checks the chip in your key before the PCM will let the engine run — no valid signal, no start. When it's failing, the usual sign is a crank with no start and the security lamp staying on. Used OEM module, tested. Mounts front, left, steering column. Part numbers: YW1T15607AA, interchange YW1Z-15607-AA, YW1Z-15607-BA, F8SZ-15607-AA, F8SB-15607-AC. Fits 1999–2004 Ford F-250 Super Duty, F-350 Super Duty, F-450 Super Duty and F-550 Super Duty; 1998–2002 Ford Mustang and Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis, Lincoln Town Car and Continental; 1998–2001 Ford Explorer, Mercury Mountaineer; 2000–2003 Ford Excursion; 2001 Ford Explorer Sport and Explorer Sport Trac. No programming required. Ships same day Mon–Fri if you order before 3pm EST. — Hubes

Please note: PATS-equipped vehicles only. Service chain F8SZ-15607-AA → YW1Z-15607-AA → YW1Z-15607-BA (discontinued). 1998 Mustangs split on build date: this is the 4-pin unit used from 3/25/98 — earlier 1998 Mustangs use the 6-pin F8ZZ-15607-AB. Does NOT fit Ranger (1L5Z/3W1Z families) or 2003+ cars (3W1Z family). 2001 Explorer Sport/Sport Trac also appears under 1L5Z. No key programming needed. Matching the part number on your original unit’s label is the zero-risk path — message us your VIN or label number and we’ll verify.

Here are the signs that the PAT system or the passive anti-theft system on your 1997-1998 Ford F-150 is going bad. Number one, intermittent no-start. You turn the key, the dash lights up, but the engine won't crank or it fires for a second and it dies. Number two, flashing security light. If that red light is blinking fast on your dash when you try to start it, that usually means the chip inside the key is not talking to the receiver ring around your ignition. Number three, start something times, dead the others. That's normally the little ring that goes around your ignition also known as a transceiver going bad. Number four, you get a new key and that won't program. If it's a fresh key and it refuses to learn, the issue is usually the PAT's reader or the security module, not the key itself. So if you're seeing any of these symptoms on your Ford vehicle from late '90s to early 2000s, check the PAT's key reader before checking anything else. I do keep verified OEM transceivers in stock.
